Sheep..

Cheap Sheep
Beep...beep my car horn creaked.
In front of me a heap of sheep leaped deep in wheat.
"Keep your sheep off the street" I speaked.
"My sheep are neat" the farmer squeaked, "in a week they will become lamb meat"
"Oh no...do not do that!" I speaked for the sheep. "I will leave you money on the peak I'll buy all your meat sheep"
In the heat the farmer leaped with his sheep to the peak. He counted the money again and again by the creek.
He shouted at me "you cheap, you cheap, cheap, cheap, sheep!" as I sped away with his sheep.
I drove away with the heap of sheep that leaped to their feet, dancing in the back seat of Jeep.
"Sweet, sweet" they peeped and ate red beets.

SUN-day is Right!...

Here in the San Joaquin Valley as you can see "the corn is as high as an elephant's eye" now.
And the days continue to sizzle, it was 113 yesterday and today it topped of at 113 again
We had 11 days in a row with tempertures over 100 degrees and more to come, "they" say it will cool off to 99 on Thursday...that sure sounds down right cold!! I think I'll need my overcoat...99..brrr!
Stayed inside most of the day and I'm bored..I'm bored you hear me? The a/c in my car isn't working and I don't feel like being in the car when irs this hot. Daytime tv was awful, one station ran 4 episodes of Roseann back to back, and the other stations were all sports one day I may have to invest in Cable TV. Big Brother was on tonight, I enjoy that reality show a lot, I like Kaysar hope he doesn't trust people this year.
Guess that's all for now....

More of the Same...
The "Phone Soap Opera" Part 3....The phone repairman came to the house about 10AM, the same guy who came yesterday. My phone was working when he arrived, but I explained everything that happened to him. He was very nice and checked things out, he thought the sun was overheating the wires in the outside little phone box "thingy" he replaced the wires...so far my phone is working fine.
I woke up at 3:30AM, since I couldn't sleep I got up to wash dishes and turned on the sprinker in the front yard, went back to bed at 4:30AM and slept until 7AM. I have been waking up around 3:30 every morning for about a week, don't know why.
So HOT here 108 degrees today and tomorrow 109 to 110...maybe hotter. we have had 9 days in a row with tempertures 0ver 100 degrees and maybe another week of it...good grief!
I will be happy to see winter come and I'll welcome the cold days and chilly nights.

Phone Revisited...
After all my calls to the telephone company yesterday...at 1:15PM this afternoon there was a loud knock on my door....who was it? The phone guy to repair my line!?? I told the nice man that I called last night to cancel any repairs. He said "I'll mark that down so you won't be charged for me coming out here" Charged!??? I went through all that yesterday.
So comes 5PM and my phone rings..I answer and all I hear is that loud scratchy humming again!! I can't dial out it is deja vu all over again. Again I called the phone company on my cell, their computer tells me "the trouble on my line has been fixed" so I stay on the line and talk to a human and tell him my woes. He informed me a repairman will be here between 8 and 12 tomorrow. Flash forward 3 hours...my phone has a dial tone again. Now what do I do? I think my best bet it not to cancel and have the repairman come and check the line out and keep my fingers crossed I won't be charged the $50. I hope this situation gets fixed up...soon.
Watched a fairly decent bio on PBS last night about James Dean, he was definitely a non-conformist. I like people like that who walk to their own beat of the drum, not caring what other people think, just being themselves no matter what. Wish I were more like that.
HOT again I think 104 or so hotter tomorrow, I've been drinking so much....water...I'm not even hungry these days.

My Day....
I want to win something...yes, I want to win something BIG. Like $10,000 or a new car,
a TV set would be nice. I would like to know how it feels to be lucky. I enter a lot of free contests, but my winnings are still at zero. I see all these contest winners on tv jumping up and down would like it to be me just once. I'm not even being greedy, I could have said I'd like to win a million zillion dollars, but $10,000 would suit me just fine.
Another hot day in the old town today, 104 or 105... and more coming.
My phone service went out the phone had a awful screeching dial tone, I couldn't call out. Why is it the first thing I think when the phone or lights go out is....hey, did I pay the last bill?
Anyhow I called the phone company on my cell and waited 15 minutes to talk to a computer that informed me I didn't have "pro-wire" and if they send out a tech guy I'd have to pay him something like $50 an hour! What the heck is that? I looked at my bill and every month I am paying the $2 plus for this service, so I called the company back on my cell and waited another 15 minutes to speak to a human being I told her what the stinking stupid computer told me. She checked it out and I was covered. After I did all this I checked my land line phone again and it was working I had a dial tone, so I had to call back the phone co and this time the wait was even longer and cancel the request for repairs. The human told me if I "really" wanted to cancel...if they do that and the phone stops working again, it will probably be Monday before anyone can come and check it out, she said to wait and if it is still ok later in the evening to call and cancel.
Around 11PM all systems were go so I called back the phone company and waited 10 minutes to tell a human not to send anyone out here. Why or why did the break up Ma Bell? I am keeping my fingers crossed that when I wake up tomorrow morning my phone is still working and I don't have to do all this again!!

Hot or Not?...
I'm not one to complain BUT...(but...and...if...the biggest words in the English language) it is has been HOT here the past few days. 108 yesterday, 106 today more to come plus high humidity. As a local tv weather man said "it is ugly out there folks" Guess it is hot all across the country, we are in "The Dog Days of Summer" (July 3 to August 11) hottest time of the year. And there "will be a hot time in the old town tonight" lol
R and I went to Taco Bell for taco salad, it wasn'tvery good, something was missing I have no idea what...but it lacked taste and they were skimpy with the ground beef. A disappointing meal...but I'm not one to complain. ha ha
Anyhow, I've been staying close to home, obeying the "spare the air" warnings they post on TV and radio, at least that is my excuse. The hot weather makes me feel lazy...arf arf

War!!....
Many Christians I know tell me that God gave the Jews Israel, that they are His chosen people, and that is why Pres. Bush is on their side. Being a Christian myself I find this theory hard to believe...God is love and peace, surely He frowns at the aggressiveness Israel has shown in bombing Gaza and Lebanon etc. Lebanon may have kidnapped an Israeli soldier, but does that give Israel the right to bomb and kill hundreds of innocent people? Is that what God would do? I think not. Didn't Christ preach peace?
I came across this news article that explains the misconception we as a Christians have about Israel...Read it and think.
http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=27395
I'm not "into" religion or politics, but the more I read about this war and the war in Iraq the angrier I become.

TV Blues...
I'm one of the few people left in the country that does not have cable tv...why pay for tv entertainment when you can get for free? It all works fine for me except during the summer months. Why is network tv so boring? Re-runs or some dorky show like "Kyle" that moves so slow with writing is so lame it drives me nuts. The only thing good on network right now are some of the reality shows, ie: Treasure Hunt, Big Brother, Rock Star...but those dance shows and so called talent shows like the one Regis hosts are pitiful. I would like a reality show that would maybe have Americans live with a family in a foreign country, or maybe one that travels across the USA in covered wagons etc. I also would like to have a tv show that would explain all the various religions in the world, one a week...most Americans sorry to say, don't like what they don't understand...make them understand via tv, where again sorry to say is where most Americans get their news and information.

One of THOSE days...
So I made a quick stop at the grocery store and stood in the "fast" 15 items or less line. I watched all the other lines moving faster than mine...why? I'll tell you why. Because the clerk on the register was a talker, she chatted with everyone...not only that she stopped to read the front page of the newspaper I was buying...and asked me questions about the news.
I needed to change a name on a utility bill...I called this company 3 months ago and was told the name change was done. Ahh, but a month later I received the bill and my name wasn't anywhere on it, called again...this time they asked me a bunch of questions, that was none of their business but if that's what it took I answered them. The 3rd month I got the bill...with only my first name on it!! Today I called to change that and of course they couldn't find my account on the computer...because it didn't have a LAST name!!! They were going around so much in circles, I got dizzy. lol

My Friend....
Isn't it amazing, that you can make friends on the internet. I met a European guy in chat 5-6 years ago and since then we've been exchanging emails saying what was on our minds, good or bad, we exchanged pictures of family and places and forwarded countless jokes. He knows more about me then my hometown buddies do and vice versa. He is in the states on business now and he phoned me just to say "hello" It just made me feel real good, that someone I never met in person is someone I can call friend.

Old Photo #2

Another unknown photo.
On the back of the photo
is stamped
Walter Studio
270 Main Street
Paterson, NJ
Anyone know this
Jersey Girl?
Old Photo....

I was looking through old photographs today and found this one. I do not know their names or even if they were related to our family, but aren't the kids adorable? By the outfits (knickers and high button shoes) I would guess the picture was taken around 1910, maybe in Massachusetts. Remember the Campbell Soup kids, they remind me of them.

Talk or Not?....
I hate myself because I'm not a talker. I had the opportunity to meet some new neighbors today but all I did was wave a 'hello'. I never liked to talk just for the sake of hearing my own voice. I'm not interested in hearing what people I don't even know are doing. Some might think that I'm aloof, but I'm not, I'm shy. I never know what to say to people, yet if the topic is right I can keep up with the best of them. I'm even shy in a chat room, I think who would be interested in what I have to say so I lurk and read what others write. I do better with instant messages, one on one dialogue...I just wish I was more outgoing. I do like people and will do everything I can for those in need, it is just the talking that does me in. Maybe I should work in the return or complaint department at a large outlet store? That may cure me...lol

Independence Day!!!!

Fireworks tonight at the ballpark and the neighborhood stuff...hope people don't have bottle rockets this year. I don't mind the firecrackers but the rockets that flyinto the air can land on someone's roof, that scares me.
Changing the subject, Viva Italia!!! They won over Germany today...I'm very happy about the victory. Now it's all the way to the top.
Have a grand and glorious fourth!!

Say That Again...
Just saw on a shopping network tiger eye rings... and it brought to mind my very first experience with 'tiger eye' I was working in an office and one of the employees showed me his new ring. I asked what kind of a stone it was. He proudly announced it was a 'tiger eye'.
Appalled I replied 'is it a real riger eye? ' He said of course it was real, he didn't wear phony rings.
Astonished and dismayed said 'you meab a poor tiger died so you can have a ring" Needless to say laughter followed that declaration. I'm not blond but I never saw or heard of a tiger eye gemstone before. Live and learn.
Some time later the same guy stopped by my desk asking for a donation for "The 12 Tribes of Israel" I told him if the Israelis wanted money they can take up their own collection. Come to find out he wasn't collection donations for Israel, but for his church choir, that was their name.
Geez.....how was I to know!
