"No one wants advice---only corroboration"
(Our Winter of Our Discontent ~ John Steinbeck)
On a dark gloomy rainy day there is nothing better then to listen to sad songs. I made up a list of my favorite sad melodies: Number one has to be He Stopped Loving Her Today by George Jones, others would include, Landing In London, Tears in Heaven, Hurt So Bad, Crying, Alone Again Naturally, Everybody Hurts, Creep, All By Myself and My Immortal. There are more, but I can't think of the titles right now. They say misery loves company then let these songs be my companions.
Of interest, a couple of days back Western Union sent out its final telegram. I never received a telegram, but it looked so cool to receive one in the old movies, with messages like "I arrived in Boston stop, Will meet you at the train station stop" I loved the "stop" after every sentence. People paid by the word, I wonder if they had to pay for the word "stop"? The telegram was delivered to your door by a messenger in uniform...usually it delivered good news like a marriage or a birth or sad news like a death. People's hearts must had stopped whenever they saw the messenger walking toward their house. Before the telephone, it was the only way to get a message to someone on the same day it occurred. News said fax, email and cell phones eliminated the need for telegrams. The first telegram was sent in 1884 it was a long run...
