Crows

D asked me today "Who's your favorite actor?" Russell Crowe. "Who's your favorite singer?" Sheryl Crow. "Who's your favorite band?" Counting Crows. "You must have a thing for crows" he replied. So it got me to thinking about crows:
Crow: black bird having a raucous call.
Raven: black bird with a straight bill and long wedge-shaped tail.
Movies: A Murder of Crows and The Crow from the novel by G.J. O'Barr
Crow Nation, a Indian tribe, Little Crow, Sioux Chief
Eating Crow, Something to Crow about, You old crow...expressions
Crow Canyon, Calif, Old Crow Flats, Alaska, Crow, Oregon, Crow, Washington, Crow Village, Alaska. Crow bar hand tool and names of lounges everywhere and my personal favorite Old Crow whiskey!
I do worry about someday getting "crows feet"and I worry why didn't I marry a Crowe or a Crow and named my daughter Raven.
People once believed that when someone died a crow carried that soul to the land of the dead.
"And the raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
On the pallid bust of Pallas just above my chamber door
And his eyes have all the seeming of a demon's that is dreaming
And the lamplight o'er him streaming throws his shadow on the floor
And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be lisfted -nevermore-"
(The Raven by Edgar Allan Poe, 1845)
