The Waldenses
This is NOT a religious blog, but this morning I watched a TV show about the Waldenses, I never heard of them before and they impressed me.
The sect lived in the Italy near the Alps in the 12th century. They rejected the papacy, purgatory, indulgences, war, the death penalty and more. They proclaimed that all you needed to know was in the bible, it was their sole belief, they were the first peoples of Europe to translate the scriptures so everyone could read them for themselves and not merely depend on the local priests as its translators of the "word"
They said a priest could not forgive your sins, that Christ was the only mediator between God and Man and only God forgives sins.
They were generous, peaceful, always of good cheer even in mist of hardships.
For this they were declared "heretics" What happened to the Waldenses and people like them?
On the lighter side, while watching BBC World News, I have a question.....
Way do Americans stand in line, and the Brits stand in queues?????
