Our Father
This morning I was researching a project, and came across this prayer:
"Our Father in Heaven be with me in life and death.
If you give me strength provide me with humbleness.
If you grant me wisdom, award me with patience.
Do not kill in me a virtue in order to revive another...
You have given me a mind to think; if I do, do not humiliate me.
Be patient with me, oh God"
(Arabic prayer)
With all the press about Iraq and Islam, let us reflect on the 99 percent of Arabs who are good, decent people who believe in God, Adam and Eve, Noah and acknowledge Jesus Christ.
There is an ancient Arabic saying that goes:
"My wish is to live without disliking anyone.
To love without being jealous of anyone.
To rise without being elevated over anyone, and
To advance without stepping on anyone or becoming envious of those above me"
In his January 29, 2002 State of the Union Address, President Bush characterized Iraq as an "axis of evil." It is wrong to classify an entire nation of people as "evil" The sad part is 3 years later, GWB's opinion has not changed.
